Scaffolding pupils in creating a Video log (Vlog) in English about their class trip to Bornholm

Dear fellow students

With this research essay I have tried to develop a class course where we focus on verbal communication, genuine tasks with real-life relevance, modern technology, and digital tools, using Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory about learning being a social process and his theory on the zone for proximal development as guidelines for learner development. To motivate the learners for the task at hand, I chose a subject which was at peak interest at the time: our class trip to Bornholm. To further encourage and challenge the learners to use and develop their oral skills I chose the YouTube-video as the main communication channel and final product, with a parents-day viewing as the deadline and motivational factor for the final product.

Research question: How might I scaffold my pupils in creating a Video log (Vlog) in English about their class trip to Bornholm?

EN UNDERSØGELSE OM INTERKULTUREL KOMPETENCE I FAGENE ENGELSK OG HISTORIE

Hej kære medstuderende

We do not fear the unknown. We fear what we think we know about the unknown (Teal Swan)

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO SCAFFOLD STUDENTS DEVELOPING INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE WORKING CROSS CURRICULAR WITH HISTORY?

Forløbet handlede om deres familiære baggrund og forståelse af kultur.
